One of the most interesting and revealing life experiences you will ever have in your life is living with someone else. And if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to live with people who truly make a difference in your life. There truly is nothing like having roommates who are also your best friends.
1. You always have a person to hang out with.
From making dinner at 12 at night, to watching endless movies together, to attempting to do 1000 piece puzzles with each other, you always have someone to do something with. (And yes, my roommates and I did do a 1000 piece Cinderella puzzle that laid on our floor unfinished for about 2 months, but who's counting).
2. They bring you food.
If your roommates really love you they will offer to bring you food to work, class, wherever you need it. Nothing says true love like your roomies asking if you want them to bring you Chick-Fil-A to work. The best way to becoming great roommates is food, no questions asked.
3. You always have people to go on adventures with you.
Due to them always being in such close proximity to you, roommates are basically required to do fun, adventurous things with you. From trying random food, going to farmers markets, or even seeing the newest Fifty Shades movie, and trust me that is an adventure in itself, your partners in crime are always there.
4. They are your support system.
I honestly would go crazy without my roommates. They keep me sane through all the meltdowns, cry sessions, and heartbreak. Knowing that you have someone who will be there for you no matter what or when is really special. Now they may not have a choice because they literally live 10 feet away, but it’s still nice to know that they’re there!
5. You can act weird together.
You never really show yourself to others until you live with someone else. They see all parts of you, especially the weird ones. There’s nothing better than dancing around and singing with your roomies. If you haven't had a Disney jam session with your roommates then you need to ASAP because it’s pretty great.
6. They always have your back.
When you live with people, they literally become your people. You find the Meredith to your Christina, which means that no one better mess with you because if they do your roomies got your back! From the ex who broke your heart to the friend who upset you, they will protect you and stand up for you through think and thin. Let’s face it, we all could use the loyalty.
7. You are a family.
You're roommates are your family away from home. When you don’t have your actually family around you need people to fill in that void. There’s nothing like having dinner with your roomies after a long day of classes or work and talking about your day! If your relationship doesn’t borderline an actual relationship then you’re doing it wrong people.
Ohana means family and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten, especially your roommates.
