Why I Hate Presidential Elections

Hello, my wonderful readers! Today I would like to talk about the 2016 Presidential Election... and why I hate it. I would like to point out that I do not hate the act of voting. I am incredibly thankful for the men and women who fought for our right to vote. What I do hate is how people act during the Presidential Elections. Here are 11 reasons further explaining why I hate Presidential Election years.

1. Debates are just a shit-storm. The candidates talk over each other, don't answer the questions asked, and just try to make each other look bad. Just stop.

2. Theoretical civil war between the different parties. Ew, I can't stand that obnoxious conservative only in politics for the rich. Wow, that liberal is just looking for free stuff and to take away my precious gun. I'm tired of it. We shouldn't let our parties impede on our friendships.

3. No matter what, you're being judged for your opinion.

4. Because of number three, you're scared to share your opinion.

5. Those poor candidates are getting shit on when they are just trying to make a difference. I like to think these candidates are in politics for the betterment of the people of the United States. I guess I'm pretty naive, but why would they want the most stressful job in the world if they're not in it for a relatively good purpose? They are all trying their best, not matter how skewed their point of views are.

6. No one is perfect, so why should we expect the candidates to be?

7. All those horrible and degrading commercials talking about the opposing candidates. What is this even accomplishing? Tell me what you're going to do for me, not how crappy the other candidate is. Tell me your plan. Show me diagrams and actually explain how you're the best choice for President. You're spending millions and millions of dollars on commercials to simply shit talk your opponent. You're not making me like you any more, I promise you that. You're making me question your character.

8. Opposing parties always blame the other for things. No one is willing to share the blame or work together. Work it out, dammit. You're adults. Act like it.

9. None of the parties are willing to see each other's points of view. Candidates act like children sometimes. Like seriously, shouldn't you all have learned to share, work together, and be cordial with each other in kindergarten?

11. I must decide which candidate to give my vote to throughout all of this, when in reality, I don't particularly like any of them.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
