My little sister is one of the greatest friends that I've ever had. With only a two year age gap, we have always seemed to be interested in the same things. Which has also made it fairly easy to get along. If you have a sibling then I hope that you are as fortunate as I am to understand the sweet relationship that comes with them.

My sister really is my biggest supporter and motivator. I truly do believe I'd live a sad, boring life without her.

Not that I haven't realized how special she is to me before, but recently I was put into a position that made me think, "what in the world am I ever gonna do if something does happen to her?"

My sister got into a really bad car accident a couple weeks ago.

I have never been a worrisome person, but I received many texts from people asking about her condition, and after calling our mom and not getting an answer, I was scared for what she would have to tell me when she finally did call back.

When I finally got the call that let me know that my sis was gonna be alright, I couldn't help but to sit and ponder on some of the many reasons why I am BEYOND BLESSED to have her in my life.

1. She really keeps me in line

Siblings should always feel comfortable enough to tell you when they think you're making a big mistake; my sis never hesitates. She always lets me know what's what, and that's always important.

2. A total sasshole, but keeps me on my toes

you look

Talk about BLUNT, but at least she's honest. If you think I've left the house accidentally looking like a hot mess; don't worry! I am very aware. I knew I looked rough the minute that I stepped out of my bedroom. But I believe the saying is, "honesty is the best policy," so I guess I can't really complain.

3. There is never a dull moment whenever she's around

Have you ever laughed so hard that it just physically hurts you to laugh any more? I could be on my death bed and my sis would somehow come off with something that would make me laugh until I cried. I am always thankful for that.

4. My stories never go unheard

stories

I love to talk and tell stories, and my sis knows it. She'll listen to me tell the same story over and over again with minimal complaints. Those are the kind of people that everyone deserves to have in their lives.

5. I've got a FREE personal therapist

therapy

I have access to quality opinions and advice 24/7! Con: that also means I get opinions even whenever I don't ask for them, but I guess I'll take what I can get.

6. She loves me unconditionally

I've given her countless reasons to hate my guts yet she still never fails to show how much I mean to her and how much she loves me. I will forever be thankful for what a loving, forgiving person she is.

As humans, whenever we grow comfortable we have a tendency to forget just how lucky we are to have what/who we have. I am just as guilty as anyone for taking a lot of the things I have for granted.

After reading this I hope that it'll be an eye-opener for those of you being unappreciative for the good people that you have in your lives. Let the people that you love know that you love them and that they mean a lot to you. Let them know not only today but every day because they could be taken from you in the blink of an eye.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
