The day all of my friends left for college, I thought it was the worst day of my life. I was all alone in my home town, watching their Snapchat videos of all the cool parties they were going to, and seeing all the cute sorority pictures they were posting on Facebook and Instagram. I thought I was missing out on the "college experience", but surely after I recognized how lucky I was to commute to school and get to go home when my day was done.
Here are the reasons why going to college close to home was the best decision I ever made.
Home-Cooked Meals Everyday
Okay, this is definitely the best part. Thank God for Grandma. I see all my friends surviving off of 'Ramen Noodle,' cereal, bread, and cheap alcohol. While I'm like...."Sorry, can't relate."
Getting To Sleep In My Own Bed
Because let's be honest, those twin XL beds aren't made to fit a normal sized human being and they look like they could fall apart any minute.
Not Having To Clean Up After Any Roommates
Sharing a room with someone can be really hard. Especially when you're a neat-freak like me. Also, I've seen those dorm rooms and suites....
Getting To See My Dogs Everyday
I would just miss them too much.
Not Being Slumped In Student Loans
When I ask my friends how they're affording $20K a year. "I took out loans"....Sorry, still can't relate.
You Can Still Party With Your Friends On The Weekends
Because you can still have a little fun.
Mom Is More Than Just A Phone Call Away
But let's be honest, I live with my Mother and I still call her everyday.
No Fire Drills At 2 AM
Do I even have to write a caption for this one?
