Why Going Home For Spring Break Is The Best

Maybe I don't want to put even more stress on myself?

Why Going Home For Spring Break Is The Best

Yes, we have all seen the Vanessa Hudgens/ Selena Gomez/ oddly also James Franco version of what spring break is supposed to be. Honestly, that seems like hell on earth for me. After midterms, I want to do absolutely zero things, and I just need to hug a puppy and sleep for 16 hours a day. IMHO, going home is the best vacation I could ever go on.

1. It's free

This is the number one reason because this is the number one thing that stops college kids from going on vacation. Would I love to be in Disney right now? Yes. Would I also like to eat for the rest of the semester? Yes, even more so.

2. You won't get sunburned

I am actually ghost-colored, so I am made for the indoors. I have to work up to going to the beach, and hitting the sand right out of winter when I've actually spent a grand total of 15 minutes outside in the past four months is maybe the worst thing ever. Also the beach is cold right now so why even go in the sun?

3. You get to see your pets

Dogs >>> Punta Cana any day.

4. You get to sleep in your own bed

Because going on vacation in college is expensive af (see above), a lot of my friends will be sleeping on air mattresses sometimes ten to a room. Sorry babes, I will be lounging in luxury in my queen size, fluffy bed with seven hundred decorative pillows surrounding me until I can no longer be seen.

5. Home-cooked meals

I am the pickiest of picky eaters, so vacation food is not for me. My parents know how picky I am, and they know the dinners that I like. Plus, I'm surrounded with the restaurants that I've eaten at for 21 years, so I've had time to figure out the meals that I like. I'm not here to try new things. Also, I can drink the tap water without getting a parasite so that's fun. Also, I'm 21 so I don't have to leave the country to get plastered; I can do that from the comfort of my living room with working internet.

6. You get to sleep

When you go on vacation, there's so much pressure to do things. I don't want to do anything, even if that thing is going mini-golfing on the beach. I want to lay in bed, watch Snapped, and stuff my face all day. Going out and doing things (and wearing real clothes/ a bathing suit) is not what I want my spring break to be about.

To all my vacationing friends, I pray for you, and your livers. I'll be at home eating berries for once and feeling replenished/ nourished instead of slowly killing my insides. Have fun!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
