This is more than just a catchy Relient K song. A Sadie Hawkins dance is a golden chance for real role-reversal where girls are able to pursue guys and it is totally okay. Here are a few reasons why you should think about going:
1. The shoe is on the other foot.
I understand that asking someone on a date can be awkward and nerve-wracking but this kind of thing builds character. You have to look at the positive side, here are a few thoughts to ponder on.
2. Shopping!
Any excuse to try on pretty dresses with friends is a great one.
3. Party Time.
Who doesn't love a good time with friends?
4. The Fear of Missing Out.
"Maybe it could've been fun." Now I know that some people can find a petty reason not to go. "I can't dance." "I don't enjoy crowds." And, "I wouldn't have a date."
Who can dance these days anyway? Ladies, we don't have to sit around with hopes of our crush coming to sweep us off of our feet or stock up on pizza, ice cream and forms of chocolate.
This, however, does not give the guys a hall pass for the whole nine yards. A date is a date, and you call the shots. That means a bouquet of your favorite flowers, dinner at someplace with slamming bread rolls, get at least one good photo together and indeed a walk to the doorstep.
I've contemplated going to the dance at my school. I already had my Sadie Hawkins moment with winter formal, and it didn't go how I wanted it to. But I still went with a group of friends and had a blast. Even if he says no, don't let that ruin your fun.
