Why Feminism Has Gone Bad
HuffPost UK

Feminism is defined as the support for women's rights on the basis of gender equality.

In the past, there have been feminist movements that took place for a good cause such as the Women's Suffrage Movement and the Women's Liberation Movement. The Women's Suffrage Movement fought for giving women the right to vote and the Women's Liberation Movement (or Feminist Movement) dealt with several issues such as domestic violence, sexual harassment, maternity leave, equal pay, etc. I say they fought for a good cause because now women in the US can vote and they have the right to maternity leave should they give birth.

Not only did these movements fight for a good cause, but they also were peaceful protests. Those who participated in those movements simply marched and held up signs that had what they were fighting for on them.

However, modern feminism is not like that. Now, there are many feminists who go to drastic measures to get their point across. Some even believe that if a man says hello to them, he is sexually harassing them. Let's take it one at a time.

Believe it or not, there are some feminists out there who claim that they've been sexually harassed if a man says something is simple as "hello" or "how are you" to them. Sexual harassment is defined as any unwanted sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or physical contact with sexual intentions. When someone says hello or asks how someone is doing, they are displaying a common courtesy. There are no sexual intentions whatsoever.

Recently, I came across a video. In the video, a feminist claimed that the garbage man sexually harassed her after saying hello to her. The worst part is that the poor man must have been humiliated about it because the video is now on YouTube and it's not like the woman was quiet about it. She was making a big deal out of the whole situation and recorded the whole thing. If were in the garbage man's shoes, I would have called the police on her. All he was doing was being nice by saying hello. She should be ashamed of herself. If you want to check out the video, type "feminist claims harassment after a man says hello" in the YouTube search bar. It's quite cringe-worthy.

If the sexual harassment claims aren't bad enough, there are also feminist movements that involve feminists going to drastic measures to convey their message. An example of this would be demeaning men. Unfortunately, some feminists come up to random men and call them misogynists, sexual harassers, bad people, or any other negative quality they can think of.

Some of these men look at those feminists like they are crazy because they randomly come up to them and bash them. This is an FYI for feminists who dislike men: not all men are what you are accusing them to be. In fact, there are men out there who would do anything in the world for their loved ones.

See, this is why feminism has gone bad. It went from peacefully marching to fight for women's rights to violently protesting, hating men, and making a scene in public. I am all for women's rights and gender equality, but I am against resorting to making a scene to prove that I support them. It baffles me that feminism went from peaceful protests to "saying hello is sexual harassment". Maybe, one day, feminism will go back to how it was before. All we can do is hope for the best.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
