Every year after Thanksgiving I begin to count down the days until Christmas. There’s just something about Christmas that I love so much.

I love riding around looking at the Christmas lights, I love all the Christmas decorations and how every store puts them up. I love how there’s Christmas music playing everywhere I go. I love how Christmas markets start to pop up here and there. I love how there’s just Christmas things everywhere you go.

I especially love the well-deserved and needed break from school. You get to start fresh when you come back and that’s always exciting. Plus, now that the semester is over, you don’t have any homework to worry about over break!

I love the lead up to Christmas. Getting to do fun Christmas activities with my boyfriend and my best friends. Some of my friends who have been away at school for awhile finally get to come home and I get to see them for the first time in months.

I love baking and decorating cookies with my mom year after year and brining them to our Christmas and Christmas Eve Celebration.

I love walking into my dad’s house on Christmas Eve and getting to see his huge tree that he’s worked so hard to decorate. I love smelling the food he’s worked diligently on to make it perfect for my family. I love getting to see family I don’t see as often, especially, my cousin who I get to see once a year. I love being able to be with family and celebrate Christmas with the delicious food and lovely Christmas music playing in the back.

I look forward to my dad’s Christmas cheesy potatoes all year long and when I say all year, I mean ALL. YEAR. LONG. They are to die for. He always picks out the best Christmas Ham for everyone to eat. Not to mention, he makes my Grandmas famous Christmas Cross Cake that everyone loves.

I love waking up Christmas morning, going downstairs and opening presents with my mom while having breakfast and hot chocolate. I love going to my grandmas for ham and seeing the rest of my family and just enjoying the day.

Sure, getting presents is nice, who doesn’t like that, but it’s the little things about Christmas that make it so enjoyable and make me look so forward to it every year. Christmas time may be stressful, but it sure is worth it in the end.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
