Why Every Sorority Should Have A House Dog

We love our house moms, now time for a house dog

Sophomore year, or the year where most college sorority girls get to call their sorority's house home. Come August, up to 60 or so girls all move into one house. That's right, 60 girls, plus a house mom, all living under one roof. Living in the house is one of the best decisions that any member of Greek life can make. Not only do you get closer to each and every girl in your sorority, but you also learn the different personalities of every girl and find friends in people that you never knew were possible. You get spoiled with thousands of clothes options from each of your 60 or so roommates, great food catered or made for you each day, and you are always able to find someone who's up for watching "How to Lose a Guy in 10 days" at any time of the day or night. However, there is one thing that every sorority house is missing. If sorority houses were to have this one item, girls would never want to leave. That item is a house dog.

Think about it. College is one of the most stressful and rewarding times in our young adult lives. We all love every second of it, however, for the most of us, going home is also a great time to relax and unwind from the daily stresses of school. If you were to ask anyone what they are most looking forward to doing when they go home I can guarantee the answer you will get is something along the lines of "Oh, I can't wait to see and play with my dog." Dogs are the perfect way to destress and unwind. They always are there for you and are 100% the best kind of cuddle buds. They remind you just how simple life can and should be. They also remind you of what the true definition of love is. They wait patiently for you to return home from school on Holiday breaks and act as if you have not missed a beat when you are finally reunited. These reasons are why every sorority should have a house dog.

If sororities were to have a house dog, that dog would quite possibly be the most loved creature on this planet. Having 60 girls to love and take care of an animal? What's more perfect than that? The house dog would also definitely become the house designated therapist. Having a rough day where nothing has gone right and your world is ending? Simply go play with the house dog and I can guarantee your day will be turned around. Sitting around and doing homework would be so much more enjoyable if you were to look up from that Organic Chemistry problem or Accounting equation and see a dog rolling around with his toy or bone- reminding you that your every day stresses will eventually turn into a thing of the past and life really is just oh so sweet.

While most or all sororities do not make it a possibility to have a designated 'house dog', one can only hope that one day a 4-legged creature can have the possibility to greet me at the front steps of my sorority house.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
