Over the course of the past two weeks, countless women in Hollywood have come forward with cringe-worthy, uncomfortable, disgusting stories about Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein.
Women like Cara Delevingne, Kate Beckinsale, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, and countless others, have recounted times they were the subjects of blatantly sexual advances, suggestive comments, and direct threats from Weinstein. And still, Weinstein has the audacity to claim that none of these stories are true.
His statement on the matter claims that no stories of non-consensual sex are true. The media reports on the issue as if there are two sides of the story, but why would we want to hear this man's case when over 30 women have now come forward?
In my opinion, it all goes back to society's tendency to discount women's voices. Specifically, in cases of sexual harassment, subjects are not believed or are made to recount their stories over and over again and face an onslaught of questions which try to drill holes in their story.
Why can't we just believe these women?
