A hookup culture is "one that accepts and encourages casual sexual encounters, including one-night stands and other related activity, which focus on physical pleasure without necessarily including emotional bonding or long-term commitment." Our generation is filled with this "hook up culture." Nobody wants to be tied down.

Its 2016 and social media has taken over our lives. We have all become so focused on how many times someone likes our Instagram or favorites our tweets. We get excited when we are on our crush's Snapchat tops. We shouldn't create a relationship via social media, but because of apps like tinder and bumble it seems like its become that way.
3. Texting

Let's admit it ... we are all hooked onto our phones. My phone is attached to me 24/7. It seems like nowadays texting is the main contact in a relationship. Couples would rather text their significant other than give him/her a call. Texting can also cause unnecessary fights or lead your boyfriend/girlfriend to misunderstand things.
4. The "Thing"

The "thing" is basically when people are together but do not have an actual label. Why can't we make a title so we know it actually means something?
5. Lack Of Trust

It seems like now everybody has trust issues. People wonder why ... it's because of the way our generation acts with each other when it comes to relationships. Here and there people get screwed over. The guy or girl you fell head over heels for is secretly talking to another girl or guy. All of these reasons is why everybody has trust issues when it comes to new relationships.
6. Expectations

7. Chivalry Is Dead

Chivalry is dead on both sides. What happened to men opening doors, or walking in front of someone to open to door? What happened to bringing flowers just because? Girls: you aren't off the hook either. We need to be courteous to men and make sure we are thankful for their kindness. I don't remember the last time a guy opened the door for me ... if anything I usually get the door slammed on me everyday on my way to work. Chivalry is dead and it needs to come back.
8. Cheating
Image Source: giphy.comCheating is so relevant in our generation, its sad. I'm pretty sure 90 percent of the couples I know out there has cheated on their significant other at least one time. What happened to being faithful? Because of social media it is so easy to sneak around. People can shady snapchat or direct message someone and their significant other will never know.
9. Ghosting

If you don't know what ghosting is it's basically when the person you are talking to ends the conversations completely. I guess people don't have the balls to just face him or her and just end it right away.
We are the generation of technology which basically takes over our love lives. We have made the idea of dating confusing it's hard to keep a steady relationship. We all need to change. We need to take a step back, and approach people in the right way. We need to talk to people in person instead of social media or texting. What happened to going up to the cute guy in English class and saying "hey?"
