Why Country Music Is Underrated
Personal

For all those country music fans, you'll completely understand my perspective. For all of those who are not a fan of country music because it's "just about" tractors, girls, trucks, or drinking, this article will hopefully open up your eyes to at least be more understanding as to why country music is much more than that.

To start with, what country music is all about is more than just what the stereotype is. Most music genres sing or rap about is drugs and women. Therefore, country already sings about much more variety than most other genres. Rap, in particular, is the complete opposite from country. I will admit, I do listen to rap but I get bored of it because the artist will just talk about all the girls/guys they, in polite words, have been with as well as all the drugs/ alcohol consumed. Country artists in my eyes are very respectful about their women or men.

One of the main reasons I love country is because their love songs are so cheery. It makes me feel all bubbly inside and really sets the bar on how I would want to be treated. On the contrary to rap, if any guy treated me that way or spoke about me that way would not be acceptable and does not meet my standards of how a man should act. Country male artists sing about how much they love their girl, especially when they just get to enjoy something as simple as riding shotgun, on a drive to where ever. One great example of chivalry in their music is "Honey Bee" by Blake Shelton. He sings some different choruses of these different things paired together that without one, there is not another, "You'll me sweet iced tea, I'll be your sugar baby."

I also think it conveys to enjoy the simple things in life like taking a back road, hard work, whatever makes you smile. Meanwhile, in my opinion, other songs give the idea that the best things in life are partying, drugs, and sex. There is nothing wrong with any of those things but they are not the things in life that necessarily make someone feel fulfilled or living a happy life in the long run. Country music also can be more than one fashion in the sense that it can be danced to, sing along to, relax and listen, or even romantic.

I get reminded of home as well because I can relate to a lot of the songs. They are singing about things I experience on a daily basis, like working like a dog in all kinds of weather, enjoying the farm life. It's something I wouldn't trade for the world. I don't need a lot to do to make me happy or need a crazy lifestyle to be content or find excitement. The farm life gives plenty of that. Country music is a great genre.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
