Why Confidence Can Change Your Life

The one way that everyone should go through life with is confidence. The mantra that has slowly developed in my head over the past few months is that you do everything with confidence. No one will doubt any thing that you do, and there are so many benefits to living with confidence.

For one, you will become more comfortable with your strengths and weaknesses. Even if you show no one any of them, you will become more aware internally. As you do something, you will gain an understanding of what you are able to do and what you need to get better at doing. You will stop doubting all of things that you do. You will learn who are as you live with confidence, what parts you would like for people to see about you, what things you enjoy to do, and what things you have to learn how to better.

You will strive to do more things. Maybe it is walking into a party in which you don’t know a lot of people, and you start mingling. Maybe it’s making eye contact and speaking clearly when you give presentations. Maybe it’s spending a bit more time studying, a little less worrying, and then envisioning the A you will earn. You have the ability to do anything, and the sooner you realize your potential and begin to work at it, is the day nothing stops you from hitting it.

As you act more and more confident, it will rub off. At first, the confidence may be an external show or persona that you show to the public, but slowly, it will wear on your personality, and you will develop become aware and the doubts and insecurities will fade as your strengths become stronger, and your weaknesses get fixed. You should gradually expect more and more success, because as confidence develops, your mental attitude will shift and you will gradually expect more and more successes in everyday life. Wear the bold outfit, walk into midterm with your head up, and expect to do well because if you expect failure, the pessimism will undermine your abilities.

Lastly, realize that it is a practice. It will not come easily at first, but as you gradually exert it into more and more niches of your everyday life, you will become better at being confidence. Go out of your way to talk to more people, watch your posture and your tone. Stand up taller and don’t doubt what ever you are saying.

Don’t get me wrong; this didn’t change my life in a day. It took me a lot of time to become the person I am today. Slowly, people here and there told me that they saw me radiating confidence. People stopped doubting my ideas. They started to ask me why I was happier. It might have taken a year to fully come to the place I am now, but I couldn’t be happier. You have to stop fearing what others might see and doubt you, and present yourself so that no one could doubt a word that you say. The self-doubt, the negative thoughts, the failures will stop occurring, success will shine through. Because if you don’t believe in yourself and your abilities to accomplish your potential, who else will?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
