Odyssey has always been a thing. I first discovered it when I was scrolling through Facebook and stumbled upon an article that had a title of something like, "The Ten Reasons Why My Best Friend Is My Person." In other words, it was an article that just seemed to be spot on in describing my life. Next thing you know, I continue to find more and more articles that were just so great in describing every single aspect of my life. Well, who was writing these articles? It did not take too long for me to realize that it ranged from college students and graduates writing these articles. And before I knew it, it was a goal of mine to write for Odyssey.
When I first applied for Odyssey, I didn't have any sense of direction in what I really wanted to do. In fact, at first, I questioned myself if I was going to be able to keep the writing going. I always had these ideas in the back of my mind of what I would have written if I was part of Odyssey. My worry was, well, what if I run out of ideas? Little did I know, after I started writing and seeing that my articles were getting shared, the more passionate I became in writing more. Soon, I've stopped caring about getting the top shares of the week, but that I showed not only people on my social networks, but also people all around the world who I was through my writing.
You know that feeling where you feel like what you want to say about something is so irrelevant that nobody would probably care to talk to you about? Well, Odyssey changed that. Whether it is about life or something relating to the career I want to pursue, I have a voice. And this voice is different. It is not the voice my family and friends know of. It is now the voice I share to strangers all over the world. Being able to express how I feel and put it through a platform like Odyssey for many other writers and readers to see is really what keeps my passion going.
Being part of Odyssey gave me the opportunity to realize that passion is limitless, and you will always discover more passions in life if you are willing to open those doors. So stop shutting opportunities out. Go for what seems crazy. Do what you think you would never be able to achieve because you never know if something great will come your way.
