3 Reasons Cats Are The Best
Hannah Mayne

As someone who has had many pets throughout my life, from cats to dogs to rabbits to hamsters, I am very aware of just how special animals are and how they should all be treated with endless love and companionship. Though there have been countless animals that I have loved in my life, cats have always found a way to my heart. The first cat I remember having was an orange tabby named Meow, (I know such an original name). He was the best cat ever, and I still believe that to this day. He would allow my sister and I to dress him up in princess clothes and cuddle and hug him, even if he didn't seem too happy about it. I currently own a 3 legged, grey tabby named Lego, (no pun intended). My family helped rescue her from her previous, abusive owners and she has been the happiest cat ever since.

I have loved all cats with all of my heart and here are 3 reasons why you should too.

1. They never fail to make you laugh

I cannot count the times that any of my cats have made me laugh. From the times they have tried jumping on my bed and failed epically, or ran into the window trying to catch a bird. Once, my brother's cat brought a live bird into the house and my family had to catch it and release it to save it.

2. They love to cuddle

Now I'm not saying that all cats love to cuddle with you, but many of the cats that I have owned have loved to. My current cat will lay right next to me when she sleeps and will wake me up in the middle of the night by licking my face, and I love her for it, even when she wakes me up at 3 in the morning.

3. They act like they hate you, but they don't

Many cat owners often have a love-hate relationship with their cats, which I have totally experienced, and I believe cats often feel the same way. They may meow at you and even scratch you when they are grumpy and have woken up on the wrong side of the bed, but they will always love you no matter what.

I have concluded that when I am 80-years-old, I will most definitely be the cliché cat lady, and am already just about there. If you are ever looking for a way to brighten up your day, be sure to go out and adopt a cat, because you will not regret it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
