I will not deny that when the news broke that Kylie Jenner was pregnant, there was a small part of me that freaked out a little ... OK, maybe a lot.
As a 20-year-old myself, it was fascinating to hear that such a famous figure in our world today is the same age as me and is apparently capable of such responsibilities. As time went on, I noticed our society narrowing its focus on Jenner and when she will reveal her baby.
After months of waiting, it is obvious that she will not reveal any time soon and therefore, it is time to move on.
The Kardashian-Jenners are fascinating; I get it.
I spend my Sundays watching "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" just like anyone else, but I also manage to live my life. I cannot scroll through any form of social media without seeing multiple articles on Jenner and her alleged pregnancy. If the star herself is choosing to keep it private, then why should we still care? She will share when she decides, and until then, keep living.
There is much more important news across the world and it upsets me that we chose to not listen to the important things and instead put Jenner first.
Moving forward, another issue that comes along with the attention is the fact that young girls will begin to believe that they are capable of having a child at such a young age. As I said, I am 20-years-old as well, but instead of managing a makeup line, I spend my days in the library trying to remain sane as the work piles up in school.
Pregnancy is no walk in the park and I cannot imagine being as young as I am with all the responsibilities on my shoulders while also being pregnant. It brings me pain in knowing that there are most likely girls out there that will think, "If Kylie can do it, so can I."
No, ladies. That is not the answer.
Just because Jenner is bringing in millions, it does not mean that she is mature and capable, and neither are any of you who might have that idea. There is still so much life ahead of you and I am here to remind you to keep studying hard in school and chase your dreams.
Never let a star figure interrupt you and make you re-think your dreams in the wrong way.
Although I believe that it is smart of Jenner to keep her pregnancy hidden as opposed to flaunting it, the attention around her must die down. The attention introduces young girls to the wrong idea and disrupts our society from focusing on what is important.
