I have recently become a part of the National Society for Collegiate Scholars, or NSCS, and I have never been so happy. I always knew that I was smart, but the problem was that in high school I just simply didn’t apply myself because I didn’t think I had to.
NSCS is an extremely prestigious organization to be a part of, and one that requires an invitation in order to become a member. Also, you must have a 3.4 GPA to get an invitation, so it is not an easy thing to get into. One thing that I found really interesting is that they mail you a press release stating that you have become a member that you can distribute to newspapers.
I have found that ever since I have received an invitation that I have been pushing myself harder to accomplish things and I am constantly striving to be the best person I can be academically and as an individual.
I am so glad that college is different for me – now it is not simply about getting through my classes with passing grades but it’s about showing my family, friends, and myself that I am capable of so much more than I had once given myself credit for. The induction for NSCS is on October Second, and I am anxiously counting down the days until I get to officially be part of an amazing organization.
When you become a part of this organization, you get the chance to get scholarships as well. While there is a fee involved with becoming a member, there are tons of benefits that are included as well that definitely makes it worth it.
I am so very grateful to have the chance to be a part of this organization and I will definitely not take it for granted. I am excited to be a part of something such as this because if I ever feel unmotivated to do my homework or go above and beyond on class assignments, I won’t have to look very far for motivation and inspiration.
