It's one of the apps that we pretty much use every day in class. When your art professor is talking about why Leonardo da Vinci painted the "Mona Lisa," you're in an entirely different world on Snapchat, mesmerized about how awesome DJ Khaled's "Keys to Success" are. Sure, the "Mona Lisa" is a great painting (at least I think it is), but you're not an art major, and DJ Khaled's snaps are way more practical toward your major than art will ever be.
Snapchat is the app that lets us find out what our friends are doing at that particular moment. It lets us find out how awesome (or terrible) your best friend did on her biology exam, how much your sorority sister loves her study abroad trip to Spain and how pretty the sunrise is while running around the LSU lakes. It connects us to people from all over the world, from the comfort of your own bed in Baton Rouge to the St. Patrick's Day parade your friend attended in Dublin, Ireland.
Last week, Snapchat underwent a major update, and I actually think that it worked out for the better. Here are a few reasons why I absolutely love Snapchat's new update:
First of all, you have even more space to write a clever caption for you snap story. No longer do you have to write "We just beat Alabama in Tiger Stadium!" and then "GEAUX TIGERS!" in purple and gold ink (unless you really want to). You can combine the two phrases together, and it's never been easier.
Second, you can actually see the name of the person of the snap that you're watching. Have you ever seen multiple people in a snap story before and have absolutely no idea whose snap story you're watching? Now you don't have to wonder about that anymore! The person's name will always appear in the top left-hand corner every time you watch their snap story.
There are also more fun geotags for every location that you go to. For example, this Greenwich Village geotag is just as awesome as person who made this snap (Hint, it's Jimmy Fallon).
And finally, the new facial filters on Snapchat can literally make you look like a tiger. How cool is that? The tiger filter on Snapchat is a personal favorite of mine, and I use this filter pretty much every day.
That's all I have to say about Snapchat's new update. GEAUX TIGERS AND GEAUX SNAPCHAT!
