Sorry, Liberals, But As A Black Woman, Let Me Tell You Not ALL White People Have White Privilege

Not matter what you choose to believe. Let me explain.

White privilege. You may have heard about this concept from your college professor or from that Twitter user who tweets "Yas queen!" every 20 seconds. The idea has unfortunately been used to argue white people always have the upper hand when it comes to every aspect of society.

What if I told you that white privilege only applies to certain white people?

Say what? Yes, white privilege only applies to certain types of white people. There are two types in which I will take a deep dive into and explain how one side benefits, while the other side doesn't.

Brie Larson and Joe Biden. Two white people that hold leftist/liberal ideas and are influential in their fields, with one being an actress and the other being a politician.

Let's start with "Captain Marvel," shall we? In June 2018, Larson said in a speech that she didn't need "a 40-year-old white dude" telling her what didn't work for him about "A Wrinkle In Time," claiming the film wasn't made for him. I thought we were past racial prejudice here in the United States?

Now let's talk about the leading Democratic nominee with a history of saying somewhat inappropriate things to young girls and being too touchy-feely. When he was a young senator in his 30s, he held a pro-segregation stance on the busing policy, in which black children would be able to attend school with their white counterparts. Pro-segregation? I thought he was for the black community?

Despite their inflammatory comments and stances, they're still paraded as the arbiters of social justice. Despite their provocative behavior, they've been unfortunately rewarded with "Captain Marvel" making over a billion dollars in the box office and Biden possibly winning the Democratic nomination. If you were to criticize either one of their actions, then you're in one who's in the wrong and that you need to "get woke."

But does this apply to the other side?

Dana Loesch and Alex Jones. Two white people that are more right-wing and don't have as much of the spotlight as their leftist/liberal counterparts. Let's start with with the NRA Spokeswoman. Loesch has stated on many occasions that she's pro-Second Amendment and believes that since the elite can protect themselves with armed security, then so can ordinary everyday Americans. Despite her encouraging words for self-defense, she has been the brunt of jokes, has been sent hate mail, and a Twitter user sent a death threat to her children.

Now let's move on to the most banned man on the Internet. Even though he can go into the deep end sometimes, Jones made a good point about how big tech is censoring non-leftist/liberal content, has shown his support for Donald Trump, and before his YouTube channel got terminated, had amassed over a billion views.

Despite his growing popularity, he's still being confronted with the comments he made about the Sandy Hook mass shooting. Most Americans can agree on some of the ideas of Loesch and Jones since the opinions they have expressed are backed up with statistics which you can find easily online. Since they're not a part of the mainstream culture of being "woke," they're labeled as being "bigoted" for their conservative views, which in turn makes the person who follows their work as being "bigoted."

Now back to the reason why you clicked on this article. The type of white privilege you see are coming from the white liberal elitists who think they're helping minorities by virtue signaling on social media and say the most backhanded comments about said minorities. If not called out on it, they'll continue to use their white savior complex to push their agenda. White people who are working-class and conservative state a fact that's true about minorities, they're labeled as a "racist" and will have their livelihood stripped from them.

The examples I listed above happens every day in this country. White working-class conservatives get vilified for telling the truth while white liberal elitists are praised as champions for social justice. When telling Billy Bob to check his privilege, just remember that Bette Middler thinks black people are used as "blackground."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
