"We're no good together, but we're sure as hell better than going forever, from whiskey to wine."
Well, Garth and Trisha said it best. The stone cold truth about loving somebody is that moving on probably will not feel even close to the same thing. "It's just not the same high."
When your soul knows another soul, and still longs for it no new touch will ever be good enough. This new person could be 10 times the person your old flame was, nicer, more attractive, honest-- whatever. Unfortunately, sometimes that doesn't matter to the heart. He or she could give you the starts but that's child's play if you think someone else hung the moon. The heart wants, misses, and longs for that same burning desire.
Sure somebody will rekindle a fire in you someday, and it might be bigger and brighter. You can tell yourself it just wasn't the right person. And you can pretend to be over them. But for right now, you're full of cool embers. And that's okay-- just know that things will get better. God has a plan.
And your "shot of whiskey" may have burned going down, but warmed you from the bottom up, but whiskey leaves a hell of a hangover, and sometimes it's okay to enjoy a "sweet glass of wine."
