I can feel the stress building up and the frustration of those around me. It’s the “where do I start” moment, where you have a lot of stuff to do and everything is equally important. Feeling overwhelmed starts to feel like a normal thing and sitting in front of the computer for hours becomes our way of living our daily lives.
I am a very organized person so I need to write everything down—the assignments, meetings, bills, emails to send, text people, walmart, etc. I can easily take my planner out from my bag a hundred times just to see what’s next. Sometimes I run out of space to write about things to do and that’s when I panic. Being like this makes it very hard to get out of ‘my day’ and do something that was not planned. Usually I would get upset and frustrated when things don’t go as I had imagined. But things change! They change all the time!
Recently I was studying at my apartment and was being productive when my boyfriend texted me saying that he was feeling overwhelmed about all the stuff he had due that day. I felt like I had to do something. I knew I couldn’t help him understand the material, but I knew I could at least bring him food. So I stepped out of my schedule and made dinner and brought it over to his place.
So even though you feel like there’s no time for anything, I encourage you to look up from your books, your computer, your inbox and break the routine/schedule and go and help someone. We are all in this together and we need each other to remember to smile, to breathe and know that everything is going to be ok because we have someone we can count on! I guarantee you that you’ll feel so much better! It’s a relief to give ourselves to others; to offer our help and give a hand when someone is in need. This is true happiness!
