When You Have A Little Brother
Jasmine Gage

Growing up I always had two sisters, a big one and a little one. I loved them to bits and my little sister was one of my closest people. My little sister and I did everything together from sledding to sharing a room her whole life. We were as close as close could be but we couldn't be more different. I loved animals and science; she loved art and anime. There were two things we bonded over: Harry Potter and Disney movies. I had the perfect siblings but deep down I always wished to have a little brother, too.

That dream came true when I was about thirteen. My little brother came to live with us the summer before my eighth grade year. When he came to live with us he was almost two and only knew one word. He had the biggest brown eyes and he looked so scared being in a new environment. I knelt down to his level and said ' It's a big place isn't it?' I held open my arms and he ran and gave the biggest hug and I hugged him backing, telling him it was okay. Bugaboo, I'm not going anywhere.

Throughout the rest of the summer I became his best friend, his shoulder to cry on, and comforting hug when he needed it. I became just as protective of him as I was of my little sister. My sister and I's dynamic duo became the three musketeers. We tried to show Bugaboo the ropes and had fun doing it.

Throughout the years I learned a lot about how things are when you have a little brother that thinks the world of you:

1. Your little brother is ALWAYS watching.

Your little brother looks up to you and views you as his hero. He tries to do what you do. It can be annoying but in a way it is a blessing and a curse.

2. Your opinion is VERY important to him.

What you think matters in his eyes and if you don't like it, chances are he will agree and change his mind.

3. You hold his little heart in your hands.

One mean little joke or canceling plans to watch a movie so you can hang out friends can really hurt his feelings.

4. He trusts you whole-heartedly.

In his eyes, there is nothing you can do for him to not trust you.

5. He is very intuitive and doesn't fall for things easily.

It is not worth lying about something because he will pester you to know the truth.

6. He is the best movie date.

He likes the same movies and it's nice when he gets the chance to order the snacks and the movie tickets.

7. He is your inspiration to be the best you possible.

You want him to see you succeed more than fail, so you strive to be the best you can be.

8. What people find weird about you, he loves about you.

Whether you like collecting Stuffed Giant Microbes or watching a show for children. To him that makes you more awesome.

If you have a little brother who is twelve years younger than you like me or just a little brother who is a year younger than you, you're lucky because not everyone gets to. If you're close to your little brother then you are even luckier!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
