When the day's an endless night, and the darkness never turns to light,

This pit never ends and you might not have any friends,

When I’m spiraling out of control and the demons take their hold,

They scream and they yell, and I can’t focus,

At least I have you.

When I can’t breathe and I’m drowning,

Don’t dive in after me.

The water filling my lungs and I can’t even cough,

At least I have you to pick me up.

When I’m fighting and can’t get up,

Don’t jump into that ring for me.

The guy is like six foot two,

But you are the best darn fighter I know.

When I can’t sleep and I feel really weak,

Don’t stay up with me.

Start counting sheep with me,

At least we have each other.

When I can’t eat and I can barely speak,

Don’t try and feed me.

Tease me with sweets and treats,

At least we have good food in our house.

When I’m losing my mind and all I can do is cry,

Don’t cry with me.

Start laughing until we cry tears of joy,

At least we have each other.

When the time comes,

Be ready to let me leave.

Hold me tighter and don’t let me go,

At least we have strength.

When I try to run away and you get me to stay,

Know that I never thought someone would care so much about me.

When I stop talking and you keep up the conversation,

Know that I wish I was just like you.

When I want to go and you anchor me down,

Know that I wish I was as strong as you.

When I tell you to stop and you keep pushing,

Know that you are saving me.

When the demons rear their ugly heads,

We can fight them off together.
