Heartbreak sucks. That feeling of waking up and immediately remembering that something happened that changed your life and your future. As Christians, we often pray that God will move us, and that we will listen and follow wherever He takes us. But we tend to forget that in order for God to do so, He has to take us from place to place in our lives. Sometimes we know a door has closed, but we are pushing it open with the little strength we have left.
Sometimes God has someone treat us a certain way so that we can move forward. He is always giving signs that it's time to move on from something weighing us down, but we tend to ignore them because we think we know better than God; we don't. All we see is the pain right now, but God sees our future. God knows what is going to come out of the pain that is making us feel as if our heart was taken out of us and crushed into pieces. But the thing about that is, that God will put those pieces back together in a way that we could never do ourselves.
In order to get God's best, we have to have doors slam shut on us. The most beautiful moments that we have with God will be those unique times where our heart feels broken. When a door closes, rely on God and trust that His plan is better than yours. God created us imperfect, therefore we need to feel pain and hurt. But even though He knows what we are thinking, it is unbelievably important to let yourself feel the pain and talk to Him about how much you are hurting. He does not expect us to be perfect at all, and talking to Him about what is hurting us will show Him that we truly do trust our lives in His hands.
Even though it is hard to see what's on the other side, there is more than we could ever even imagine. We cannot say that nothing good will come out of this, cause that's like saying that God can't do the marvelous miracles that He has done for years.
We cannot even get a grip on how good our Lord is, and anyone who has read His word knows that. We are self-centered, imperfect humans, and He is a holy and perfect God. He loves each of us more than we could ever love anyone. Do not doubt what He is going to do in your life because even if you don't see it now, it is going to be beautiful.
So when the door closes, run to God. Thank Him for wanting the best for you and for ending something that could have destroyed you even more later on. Thank Him for the memories and for bringing whatever it was into your life when you needed it most. Thank Him for sending His son Jesus to die on the cross so that our sins and unfaithfulness will be forgiven.
Put your pride aside, read the Bible, and trust Him. Even though you can't see it now, the best is truly yet to come. Just don't drift away from the one who loves you most, and never lean on your own understanding. If the door has closed, keep it closed. This is just the beginning of a very new, exciting chapter, as long as you don't keep trying to read the last one.
