Remember When Disney Channel Orginal Movie's Were Actually Good?

Remember when you would turn on your TV at 8 p.m. on a Friday night, and you flip through the channels until you landed on Disney channel. Then, you see the "Let's watch a Disney Channel Movie" flash across the screen and jingle would come on. Kids would be jumping up and down on the screen like they were on a trampoline. Now, THIS was the golden age of Disney channel original movies. Here is a list of some great Disney Channel Movies that you forgot how much you loved.

1. High School Musical- One of the best of all time. I am not embarrassed to admit I know the dance to "We Are All in This Together" (thank you Dance-A-Long version). "Get'cha Head in the Game" is still on my pump up playlist. It is always a go to jam. We actually have to thank High School Musical because it gave us one of the hottest men of all time ZAC EFRON! Not to mention, Vanessa Hughens and Ashley Tisdale are still best friends today because of this film.

Fun fact: this came out in 2006, do you feel old yet?

2. Cadet Kelly- Hilary Duff was Lizzie Maguire on the Disney Channel. During the peak of that show, Cadet Kelly came out and had 7.8 MILLION viewers!!! Not to mention, Hilary Duff rocks the military uniform. Click the link to watch one of the best dance scene of the whole movie!

3. Ice Princess- Michele Trantchenberg before she was the villain, Georgina Sparks, in Gossip girl. She was inspiring us all with the come-back story of a girl following her passion for Figure skating.

4. Halloweentown- It is not really Halloween season without a marathon of the Halloweentown movies. The first three movies were amazing in the series. Then, they changed the main actress in the fourth movie. WE ALL KNOW IT'S A DIFFERENT PERSON!!!

5. Camp Rock- When the Jonas Brothers were "Burnin Up", before Nick Jonas was "Jealous" and before Demi Lovato was famous, Camp Rock was a Disney Channel classic. Who would forget "This is Me" with Demi and Joe Jonas at Final Jam? Even though Kevin and Nick did not have the biggest parts in the movie, they still had a classic Jonas Brothers song "Start the Party," which will be stuck in your head for days on end.

.

6. The Cheetah Girls- "CAUSE WE ARE SISTERS WE STAND TOGETHER." There are so many great songs in the Cheetah Girls movie it is hard to talk about just one. This movie centers around a group of girls who want to become famous, but have to choose between friendship and fame. Pretty deep stuff for Disney Channel. The second Cheetah Girls movie did not disappoint, but do not even bother to watch the third one (there is no Raven Symone).

7. Jump In!- A movie about jumping rope and double dutch would only be a Disney Channel original TV movie. Corbin Bleu and KeKe Palmer star in the this movie about a boy who had to choose between what his father wants him to do, and what he really wants to do (jump rope). After watching this movie my friends, we all tried to double dutch just like the characters in the movie. It was A LOT harder then it looks!

Now these movies were my childhood. If you grew up in the late 90's or early 2000's, I am sure you will agree with me. Now, I don't know about you, but I am in the mood to binge watch all of these movies now on Netflix!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
