When college gives you a roommate.
When moving away for college, I was nervous about so many things such as not fitting in, leaving my best friend, getting lost going to my classes, what if my roommate was weird and so on. These might seem like silly things, but I'm sure that anyone that has moved away to go to college can vouch for me that these are common things to worry about. After arriving on campus, I met my three amazing roommates that I am now so thankful for. This is what happens when college gives you a roommate.
When college gives you a roommate, they also give you a built in best friend. You are spending the next year of your life together it's not surprising that they instantly become the people you want to tell things too. They are always there with advice and a shoulder to cry on no matter what the situation is.
When college gives you a roommate, they also give you someone to keep you in check. They aren't afraid to tell you when the guy you're talking to isn't good for you or that your shoes most definitely don't match your outfit and they just can't let you leave the room like that. It's refreshing to have people in your life that you know will always be brutally honest.
When college gives you roommates, they give you someone to always go on lunch and dinner dates with. The cafeteria can be a pretty scary place especially if you don't know anyone, however, having roommates that are always available to eat lunch and dinner at the same time you are makes eating in the cafeteria a little less scary.
Lastly, this being your freshman year of college obviously you're going to make lots of memories. Who better to make those memories with than the people you lived with for the entire year. Literally, anything can be an adventure from spontaneous road trips to getting up early on Saturday mornings to go get fresh donuts.
College blessed me with three amazing roommates who I couldn't be more thankful for. College can be pretty scary, but it's a little less scary if you have people to go through it with like I was fortunate enough to.
