What's In My Purse?

You can tell a lot about a girl by what's in her purse

What's In My Purse?

In recent years, Youtube has made it it possible for creators to share their personalities with a worldwide audience. This being said, there are millions of different types of videos on Youtube. One type of video I seem to come across is one called “What’s in my purse?” In these videos, self-proclaimed “beauty gurus” go through the contents of their purse and take items out one by one. The items usually include things like makeup products, Starbucks gift cards, and gum wrappers. Their purses are usually a very expensive brand I have never heard of and they often have a matching wallet which is equally expensive. As a normal person who is in no way a “beauty guru,” I thought it might be fun to recreate this type of content by going through my own purse. Before I begin, I just want to let you know that I have used the same purse, which I purchased from T.J. Maxx, for the past three years. It has been cleaned out probably twice in this time span.

In the front pocket of my purse, I found my headphones. I use the word “found” because I’ve been looking for them for about three days. I also found a lottery ticket which I apparently purchased on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. It is for the Pick 3 game I bought the Number 367. I‘m pretty positive I never checked this ticket so who knows, I could actually be a millionaire by now.

In one of the small inside pockets of my purse, I found a receipt for $9.50. It’s for a pair of sunglasses I purchased two days ago and already misplaced. The second small pocket contains chap-stick and my iPod. My iPod is dead because I didn't see a need to charge it without having my headphones. In the third small zipper pocket, there are three orange tic tacs in a dirty case. I can’t remember the last time I bought tic tacs, so they are probably very hard and stale. In this pocket, I found another lottery ticket I bought on Friday, May 27, 2016 for the number 504. Again, this was never checked, so I’m probably very wealthy by now.

The main pocket of my purse is cluttered with dozens of different items. The first is my wallet. My wallet is a mess. I won’t get into detail but its contents include five dollars (I can buy iced coffee tomorrow, WOO HOO), seven Dunkin’ Donuts coupons, a Target coupon for one dollar off Suave Kids shampoo, a ticket stub from the movie Zootopia (it was very good, I recommend it), a Wawa gift card that probably has nothing on it, and six more unchecked lottery tickets. Also in the main pocket of my purse, was a yellow guitar pick. I don’t play guitar, but I do go to a lot of concerts, so I’m thinking I caught this at a show. I have an opened pack of tissues which features Star Wars packaging, eleven cents, hand sanitizer, and a discontinued Victoria’s Secret body spray.

After going through my purse, I think it is pretty safe to say I don’t have what it takes to be a “beauty guru.” My purse is cluttered with things I’ve forgotten about or lost. The “What’s in my purse?” videos usually end with the person saying why they have these things in their purse and what they like about them. In my case, the only reason something is in my purse is probably because I had nowhere else to put it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
