Whats HOT in music NOW

If you didn't already know, new music comes out every Friday. That means new singles, new albums and new remixes drop on iTunes, Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music and more every Friday. Sometimes there can be an overwhelming amount of music and you may not know where to begin. Well I'm here to help! I've complied a list of everything that's HOT in music right NOW. These artists, songs and albums are on the rise or are tearing up the charts as we speak. I recommend giving a listen to everything I have written below, and who knows you may find your new favorite song!

1. Mind of Mine - Zayn

Former member of One Direction Zayn shows us whats its like to leave a boy band and become a successful solo artist. Zayn's new album "Mind of Mine" features 18 original songs and one featuring R&B star Kehlani. If you weren't a 1D fan before, don't disregard this album completely because its nothing like past One Direction music.

My favorite songs/recommendations on this album:TiO, sHE, PiLLOWTALK and wRoNg (ft. Kehlani)

2. The Life of Pablo - Kanye West

Now if you know me, you know how obsessed I am with this album. Kanye recently just released The Life Of Pablo on iTunes, Apple Music andSpotify so now everyone can listen. Not only does this album feature big names such as Rihanna, Chris Brown and Kid Cudi but it also showcases some new and upcoming artists like Post Malone and Ty Dolla $ign. If I had to listen to one album on repeat for the rest of my life, it would be this one.

My favorite songs/recommendations on this album: FML (ft. The Weeknd), Fade (ft. Post Malone & Ty Dolla $ign), Father Stretch My Hands Pt.1 (ft. Kid Cudi) and Wolves (ft. Frank Ocean & Caroline Shaw).

3. When Its Dark Out - G- Eazy

Currently on a sold out world tour G- Eazy is killing the music game right now. With features including Chris Brown, E-40, Keyshia Cole and more, When Its Dark Out is one of the best albums currently out there. You use to know G-Eazy from his SoundCloud songs and mix-tapes but now you can't turn on the radio without hearing his song Me, Myself & I (ft. Bebe Rexha). G-Eazy is the definition of the rapper who made it.

My favorite songs/recommendations on this album: Calm Down, Drifiting (ft. Chris Brown & Tory Lanez), Order More (ft. Sarrah) & Some Kind of Drug (ft. Marc E Bassy).

4. Flume

Even though his new EP "Skin" isn't out yet, Flume has been dominating the electronic music world this past year. You may know him from his famous remix of You & Me by Disclosure, but Flume is more than just killer remixes. In early 2016 Flume released two new songs, Never Be Like You (ft. Kai) and Smoke & Retribution (ft. Vince Staples) both which are incredible and unique. "Stay on the lookout for Skin's release on May 27th, and catch Flume at one of the many festivals he's headlining this summer (Lollapalooza, Coachella, Hangout & more).

My favorite songs/recommendations on this album: Never Be Like You (ft. Kai) and Smoke & Retribution (ft. Vince Staples).

5. Anti - Rihanna

I have raved about this album for months now and its finally getting the recognition it deserves. If I could hand Rihanna a Grammy for this right now, I would. Anti is pure GENIUS. I've always loved Rihanna but not like this. If you want an album where you can listen to the whole thing and not get bored, this is the album for you. Slaying the charts with Work (ft. Drake), Rihanna can do no wrong. But I must warn you, this is not your usual pop album, Rihanna leans more towards ballads and R&B vibes and I love it.

My favorite songs/recommendations on this album:Desperado, Love on The Brain, Kiss It Better & Needed Me.

6. Peace is The Mission [Extended Edition] - Major Lazer

Having the most streamed song EVER, one of the most watched music videos on Youtube, headlining multiple major festivals this summer AND being under Diplos record label (Mad Decent), Major Lazer is currently number one. With his #1 hit song Lean On (ft. MO) off of his existing album Peace is The Mission, Major Lazer decided to step it up by releasing a Peace is The Mission [EXTENDED] edition album. This album features a brand new remix of Light it Up (ft. Nyla & Fuse ODG) and it gives off reggae feels while still keeping it up beat and dance worthy. Major Lazer is expected to release a new album sometime during the second half of this year and I couldn't be more excited!

My favorite songs/recommendations on this album: Light it Up [Remix] (ft. Nyla & Fuse ODG), Roll The Bass, Be Together (ft. Wild Belle) & Powerful (ft. Ellie Goulding & Tarrus Riley).

7. TWENTY88 (Jhene Aiko & Big Sean)

Big Sean & Jhene Aiko teamed up to bring us 8 brand new orginal songs under the name TWENTY88! Not only are these artists amazing solo but together there unstoppable. TWENTY88 was just released early April, so if you want to be a head in the music game, I definitely recommend checking this one out.

My favorite songs/recommendations on this album:Deja Vu & Talk Show.

8. DJ Snake

With his blow up of Get Low (ft. Dillion Francis) last year DJ Snake has been releasing banger after banger. The EDM DJ is climbing the charts with his song Middle (ft. Bipolar Sunshine). Now to some of us this song may not be the newest song, but its getting more and more popular by the day. and its about time. An additional to his song Middle, DJ Snake released another song called Propaganda which was one of the most played songs at this years Ultra Music Festival.

My favorite songs/recommendations: Middle (ft. Bipolar Sunshine) & Propaganda.

9. Pop Style & One Dance - Drake

Now I know what your all thinking, Drake?! As in one of the chart topping artists? Yes, I'm talking about that Drake, the one I hate to love but do anyway. Well he just released two brand new songs, Pop Style (ft. Kanye West & Jay-Z) and One Dance (ft. Wizkid & Kyla) and not trying to sound lame when I say this but, they are the definition of the word FIRE. You already know Pop Style is going to be a hit when you have Kanye West and Jay-Z, aka The Throne, rapping on the track. And the song One Dance is whole different kind of Drake. I would consider it dance music meets today's modern rap and beat. Drake can do no wrong!

My favorite songs/recommendations:Pop Style (ft. The Throne) and One Dance (ft. Wizkid & Kyla).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
