Have you ever wondered about how often you actually think about God?
He is, in fact, the Creator of this entire world. He created life. He spoke the universe into existence. Take a minute to think about that. To have the power to merely open your mouth, and suddenly, out of nowhere, an entire universe comes into being. That is beyond even our most imaginative comprehension. God is loving, just, kind, gentle, strong, powerful, mighty, holy, and righteous. He is all these things and more.
So... why is He such a small part of our life?
Many Christians will go for DAYS even WEEKS, without so much as even a thought towards God. We go to church, every Sunday, and give God our attention for one hour out of our week. We think that's enough. Often it's not even undivided attention. We'll be thinking about relationship issues, what restaurant we're going to afterward, how horrible that person's voice behind you was during worship or the kid who keeps kicking your chair. Then after the service, what we get out of it is, "Well, as a Christian, I need to act like a good person" and leave it at that. No thought to process of application or any actual change. There's a momentary fleeting desire for change, but then it's gone. Poof. Back to normal life. And that's it. That's our "Christianity for the week" quota met. This is not all Christians, of course, but it is becoming a growingly large number of them.
As Christians, we are called to live a life like Jesus. We are meant to model our lives after Him. Here's the part that many Christians miss: Christianity is not a hobby. It is a lifestyle.
When we commit our lives to Christ and receive the gift of salvation, we become a "new creation" in God. That doesn't mean adding spiritual fluff to our normal life to help us get through hard times. Instead, it is TRANSFORMING everything in our old life into an entirely new one. You shouldn't be having to "make time" for Christianity in your life. CHRISTIANITY. SHOULD. BE. YOUR. LIFE.
When you become saved your whole perspective of the world should change. I remember when I dedicated my life to Jesus that it was like "looking through the world through a different lens". Your vision should change, your attitude should change, you should have peace, and so much more. These are signs that your life is no longer what it once was. The difference? God is at the center. And that changes everything.
So what has God got to do with your everyday life? EVERYTHING.
He is everywhere you go: grocery shopping, baseball game, ballet class, history class (you'll definitely need Him then), punching numbers at your job. Everywhere. Don't short-change God's impact on your life just because your Christian box has been checked.
So go make a change. Let God into every area of your life. He's already there. So save yourself some time and stop ignoring Him. Worship God in everything you do. Yes, that means giving glory to God even while typing up that ten (or twenty) page research paper. Go now. Grab a devotional. Set aside a special time to pray, every single day. Pray while you wash the dishes. Talk to God while you zone out staring at that cute guy sitting in front of you in math class.
In short, make God your focus. Because you are already His. The world will let you down. But God never will.
So, again I ask you. What has God got to do with it?
Everything.
