The power and expression of words and the actions through stories are so beyond sentimental and touch your heart, mind, and soul in ways you cannot even begin to imagine. Literature is so deep, real, and the creative thinking and style that goes into it are indescribable. I have always fallen in love with writing and reading ever since I was a little girl. My mom always would take myself and my two brothers to the library every week in order to get out a new book to read. From the "Little House on the Praire" books to The "Twilight Series", to reading so many well-known authors like Jane Austen and William Shakespeare, literacy has taught me more knowledge than anyone could ever teach me. It has opened my mind and ways of thinking in so many incredible ways. Reading through personal and heartfelt stories that have made my imagination see and my heart feel. Hence, why I want to be an English teacher.

Through reading and writing, I have learned about worlds outside of my own. Learning the uniqueness of every individual, the beauty of the world we live in, and more essentially, the influence our actions make. I have been deeply moved by the numerous tragedies, suffering, hardships, heartbreaks, and happiness that I have seen throughout the novels I have read. It kindles new thoughts and thinks about it, life is manifested into the form of literature. It is a form of art that embodies people's desires, wants, needs, and emotions. Giving purpose and making sense of humanity, places, and ideals. Literacy has shown me and keeps on showing me to never give up on your dreams, and that hope and strength is what you need. Displaying that anything is possible, and failure at first is actually a gateway to success. It has opened me up to an unseen sense of culture and love.

Lastly, there is always time to read. Even with the abundant amount of assignments you need to do, work, or your social life; there is always time to read. So, the next time you are at Barnes and Noble or the library, do yourself a favor. Pick up a book, read a few pages. Get a book that you enjoy, it makes reading that much better. Find a book that is calling your passion and interests. Try that book you pick out. You never know what places that book will take you to or more importantly where it will take your mind and soul. Words, phrases, writing and the power of being able to read, remember, is a privilege. Our world would not be able to survive without these four essential things, so be grateful for them.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
