What To Do With Your Spring Break

Yes, finally, we get to go home!

First of all, since Delaware has such a long winter break most of us don’t get to see our home friends over Spring Break considering everyone else had Spring Break weeks ago. However, that doesn’t mean that you just have to sit at home and be bored.

Well, I take that back. You’ll probably want to destress and sit at home and be bored for at least two days of break, but other than that you can do a lot with your 10 days off. You should definitely catch up on your sleep, especially considering Delaware seems to be the school that never sleeps. Also, take your time to catch up on shows that you couldn’t watch while you were at school and keep up with your March Madness bracket too.

Now that you’ve caught up on your sleep and television, you have so many options. Haven’t had time to go to the gym lately? Understandable, so go now! You have so much free time on your hands, you can spare an hour or two to go to your local gym and get a nice workout in. Not to mention that nice, home shower, rather than the gross showers at school where you have to wear flip flops.

Make yourself a home cooked meal or some sort of baked good since you have full access to a kitchen again. You know you’ve been craving your favorite pasta or just wanting to make a cake so go ahead and do it. I know while I’m home I’ll definitely be baking banana bread and cupcakes.

Drive around your hometown. Maybe this doesn’t seem all that fun to everyone (or feasible if you live in the city), but for me where I grew up is perfect for driving. Drive to your favorite lake (Marsh Creek. If you know, you know), your favorite mall, or really anywhere you want. Just take in the views of the town that you’ve been missing and put on your driving playlist.

Pick up some hours at your part-time job if you can. Make some money while you have the chance, especially considering for the most part no one else thats in college will be home. See your work friends and your friends that are still in high school. Surround yourself with good people that are still in your town and reconnect with the people you haven’t seen in a while.

Spend time with your family. They’ve missed you and you’ve missed them so catch up and tell them all about what’s been going on in your life. It’ll be nice to not have as many people home so that you have a chance to really spend time with them.

So until we have to go back to school, destress and do the things that you enjoy. Make yourself happy by not having to think about school and meetings everyday and do something relaxing or fun instead. Don’t overwork yourself and use this time to really recover from the first half of spring semester.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
