Halloween is coming soon but right now, we are living in a pandemic. The most important part of Halloween is trick-or-treating. It happens outside but going outside is dangerous now. Trick-or-treating might be canceled this year. What will people do if it is canceled? I think people will watch Halloween movies on TV to celebrate the holiday. People will also do costume parties at home. I think it is best to not invite others and to use the party for family time only. People will buy candy for themselves without giving them to others. Those who do not celebrate Halloween will treat it as an ordinary day. They will feel relieved that no one will come to ring the doorbell at their doorstep.
If it is not canceled, then what will people do to make it safe? Not all costumes have masks. People have to find a mask or rely on the one that their costume provides. When they give out the candy, people have to wash their hands beforehand and wear a mask to prevent germs from spreading. Trick-or-treaters cannot touch their face after they touch the candy. They have to restrain themselves from doing that for the whole period of trick-or-treating. Parents might not allow their children to do trick-or-treating this year because they fear their safety and health. You never know which house has the coronavirus. The best way to safely distribute candy is to put the candy on a bowl or basket and leave it outside on the doorstep. That way, no trick-or-treater needs to ring the doorbell and speak to the person at the door.
Sadly, this Halloween will not be the same as the past Halloweens. The children that are experiencing Halloween or trick-or-treating for the first time will have to experience it this way. Hopefully, the next Halloweens will be better than this upcoming one.
