Valentine's Day is supposed to be a day about love, about spending your time with those you care about. Unfortunately, for the students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, that day of love turned into a day of tragedy when a former student came in and killed 17 people. 14 students and three faculty members were murdered and several others were injured
It is what no one should ever have to go through, no parent should ever have to bury their child, no child should ever have to be without a parent, no one should ever have to go through that.
I am going to say an important message in the aftermath and it's not about gun control, there are already plenty of articles about that. This is a different message.
Tomorrow is not guaranteed for anyone, parents tell your children that you love them, children tell your parents that you love them, hug them, kiss them just let them know.
When I first saw the news, it did make me feel all sorts of things.
The futures of those teenagers were taken away by a senseless act of violence, most of them were planning on going to college, some of them were in the ROTC, some of them had scholarships, some of them were about to graduate. I just have no words.
Be kind to people always, you never know what they are going through. Be a friend to someone, and also don't be a bully for any reason, there is no excuse to be picking on someone.
Always look for signs that someone may be in trouble, and tell an adult or a professional, you never know you could end up changing that persons view and even end up saving some lives in the process.
Like I said, this is not about gun control. This is about being there for someone when need it the most, its about living like there is no tomorrow because tomorrow may not come for everyone, so talk to your friends, talk to your family, just talk to people because you never know.
