What We All Wish For Our Best Friends

Blessed to have you crazies.

What We All Wish For Our Best Friends
Grace Cook

They’ve been there for you since the day that you met. They don’t turn their phone on silent when they fall asleep just incase you need to call them. They bring you coffee after you fail a test, just to make you smile, and pray for you each day. They know all of the words to your favorite songs and could list all of your little habits. And these people, the ones that spend time pouring into you, you wish the world for. You want them to always have the best. They are you best friends. And since mine will probably end up reading this, this is for you pretty girls; this is my hope for each of you.

1. That no boy ever hurts you.

I hope and pray that he won’t, but if he ever does, know that I’ll be standing here with open arms, ready to hold you while you cry. Anytime time, any day, if you need me, I’m right here.

2. That you know your worth.

Priceless. Absolutely priceless, and the daughter of a King. I hope that you never forget how much you are cherished and loved.

3. That you never stop craving adventure.

Sometimes I get whiplash trying to keep up with you, but there is never room for a dull moment. You’re adventurous spirit makes you, you, and I wouldn’t ever change it.

4. That you’ll see God working in your life as much as I do.

I hope that you’ll see the brush strokes of color He’s painting into your life right now. You may not see it, but I promise it’s there. One day when you wake up and see what He’s teaching you, I can’t wait to hear all about it.

5. That you always know the value of sharing.

Mostly when it comes to sharing your shoes with me (kind of kidding).

6. That you won’t hesitate to ask for help.

We all need it sometimes; please don’t ever be ashamed to ask. I promise that all of us are ready and waiting to jump up and support you whenever you may need it.

7. That you'll always know how beautiful you are.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made. There will always be reasons to find insecurity and doubt, but I pray that you won’t. You are perfectly unique, and that in itself is stunning.

8. That you’ll always be this patient.

I appreciate you listening to me well into the early hours of the night. My favorite memories with y’all are spent laughing about who-knows-what well after when we said we’d be asleep. Thanks for not stopping me when I repeat the same story for the third time, I promise I’ll do the same for you.

9. That you never loose your sense of humor.

I’m still waiting for you to start laughing at all of my pun jokes, but until then, we can just keep laughing at everything else, including ourselves.

10.That we never stop making memories.

Because memories with y’all are my favorite kind.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
