Hey Odyssey Creators, Don't Know What To Do Your Article On? I Do

I know for a fact that I am not the only person who has been in that situation where it's the day articles are due and I'm stressing about what to write. I'm the type of writer who waits to be inspired. I wait for a topic to slap me in the face. When that doesn't happen, I'm left analyzing everything I see.

Can I write an article about my car? Or should I make a letter to my future self? I got it. I'm going to write an article about how I like my pillows to be rock hard but my mattress to be soft.

If you could make an article about any of those things, you're welcome for the inspiration, and if you can't then here are some things you could write about.

Anything You May Want To Say To A Friend:

If you've had a friend who's gone above and beyond for you lately, write a letter to them. You can even turn it into a more general open letter to: To All The Friends Out There That...

Or vice versa, life happens and people come and go. If you recently lost a friend or decided to cut them out of your life write about that! Human connection is a weird thing and I personally always enjoy reading about the dynamic of someone's friendship. Have you been that friend that did everything for them, and they just cut you off?

Has Anything "Triggered" You In The Past Few Days?

Life is not all sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes we get sad, sometimes we get mad. Think back on all that's happened recently and think of a time you got really sad or really mad. Why did that happen?

I once started crying whilst I was listening to "Free Falling" by Tom Petty. It was a few months after my Grandma passed away and it just caused my emotions to flood out. Finding out what's made you experience real emotions, can help strike passion for you to write on this issue. A few days after that happened I decided to write an article about what I could say to her if I could call her one last time. Once you find something that's made you feel, just type away on a computer and let the words fly out.

Check The News!

What's currently trending on Twitter? Doing research on things that are occurring in our world today can spark a flame inside of us.

When I saw the video of Ariana Grande being groped by the priest at Aretha Franklin's funeral, I was enraged and asked if my article about it could be published early.

Write About Odyssey:

Everyone has their own reason for joining Odyssey. What's yours? Has writing for Odyssey impacted your life?

I know personally that Odyssey has given me a place to be free. I wrote a thank you letter because I'm so grateful to have a platform like this.

Take A Trip Down Memory Lane:

Check your Snapchat memories, download Timehop, scroll back through your camera roll and look at where you were a year ago. Ether where you were physically (a location), or mentally (what state where you in.) Reflect and think of all that's occurred within that time period. Good and bad.

I went through my Snapchat memories and saw that I've developed so much as a person over the course of 18 years, so I wrote an article about everything I've learned.

All in all, write about something that you can write about! Find your inspiration.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
