The talk of the MMA world has not only been Khabib getting his 25th win against Edson Barboza or Cyborg retaining her Featherwight belt against Holly Holms this past weekend on December 30th to close out a tremendous year. But many of us are wondering what plans Dana White and The Guys have for us in 2018. There are many new contenders throughout the different divisions and tons of potential title fights along with a potential super fight to take place.

As the first event of the year approaches, UFC Fight Night 124 is happening on January 14th, 2018 in St.Louis, Missouri, as #9 Ranked Jeremy Stephens will be facing #13 ranked Dooho Choi in the featherweight division for the Main Event. Then January 20th in Boston, MA, UFC 220 takes place with the first of 2 major title defenses of this year are happening.

As Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic faces the fierce #1 ranked Heavyweight Francis Nganno and Light-heavy weight Champion Daniel Cormier defends his title against #2 ranked Volkan Oezdemir. With the UFC already throwing 2 key events at us this year in the 1st month, we speculate what more is to come? Who is fighting who? Who gets a title shot? Who is returning? And the answer once again is we do not know. We can only wonder and go off of what took place in 2017.

There are a few contenders in the UFC that are expected to light this year up with fireworks. Names like the 15th ranked Middle Weight in the world Paulo Costa who seems to be a problem for anyone who is in front of him. Or the self pro-claimed best striker in the Welterweight division #7 ranked Darren Till who also has been tearing and picking apart the division since he made his debut. #5 ranked Lightweight Justin Gaethje, though he just lost via knockout to Eddie Alvarez, Justin is already expected to have a phenomenal year. These are just a few of the handfuls of fighters to be on the look out for as the year goes on.

Not only are these contenders to be on the lookout for, but there are potential title fights that will knock us fans off of our feet. There are championship fights that can shake up the world like no other. Potential fights like Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley facing #3 ranked Colby Covington can shake the world as we await a fight announcement like this.

Or Featherweight Champion Max Holloway versing #2 Frankie Edgar being rebooked after the fallout in December due to Frankie’s injury. These are fights that can help shape the divisions and test the Champions. Newly crowned Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker is already set to defend his title against #2 ranked Luke Rockhold on February 11th at UFC 221, so as long as no injuries happen between the fighters we all have something amazing to look forward too.

There is still no telling when Conor Mcgregor will be back to defend his Lightweight Championship and the focus has been redirected towards Interim- Champion Tony Ferguson facing Khabib Nurmagomedov for Tony’s interim title. That fight alone would be a sight to see and a fight of the year contender.

A Super Fight that has made the world’s antennas stand up straight and has been rumored also speculated is a clash between Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw and Flyweight Champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson. This fight alone could break the internet and could very-well be considered one of the greatest fights of all time. Only if a deal is made for this fight to happen. It will definitely show us who is the best out of the 2 and it would be a wonderful gift for the MMA World. Let’s just hope 2018 is as good as it is projected to be.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
