So you are a college freshman. You're confused as to why all your professors are giving you tests on the same day and why you are still hungry even though you just ate 27 minutes ago. Well let me be the first to tell you things will only go downhill from here. Here is what to expect every day after syllabus week.
1. Eating all of your food in one day.
It's going to happen. You are walking everywhere. You are stressed. Food is the only thing that makes sense right now.
2. Questioning if you actually know what day it is.
I hate that this is a thing, but you are going to check your phone to see if it is Wednesday even though you just checked 3 minutes ago and it's Monday.
3. Studying all day and still not knowing anything.
Let's face it- some professors are the worst. You'll never actually understand anything until it's too late.
4. Going crazy is not a good choice.
Don't go crazy at parties. Don't go crazy over a test grade. Don't go crazy over a relationship. Just don't go crazy. Stay calm. Stay calm. Ssstttaaayyy cccaaaallmmm.
5. Forgetting everything you learned in high school.
There's a 100% chance 47% of the things you learn in most of your college classes is a review from high school and there's a 87% chance you won't remember any of it.
6. You do need the family size of everything.
See "eating all of your food in one day".
7. Homework. Homework. Homework.
It is a nuisance and it is the worst, but you need to do it. That 5% will help you in more ways than you could ever imagine.
8. Easy classes aren't actually easy.
Yea look, some of them are a joke but the more you think it's a joke the more of a joke it'll make you.
9. Changing your major is a thing.
People are legit scared of doing this, but I really don't know why. You're going to go in with neuro surgery on your mind and leave thinking "lol no."
10. You're going to want to look bad.
Just don't even think about the fact that your shirt is the same color of your pants, your socks, and your shoes.
11. And you're wondering when to take electives.
Spread them out, honey. Take a few each year, not all at once.
A shout out to the MSU Odyssey team who gave extra advice for weeks to follow freshman syllabus week!!
