Would you consider yourself to be a morning person? Or would you consider yourself a night owl? I myself would consider myself to be night owl and those who really and truly know me know this to be true.
Being a night owl isn't completely bad. Yes, it's bad because we do need our sleep. But it can be a good thing in some ways, it all depends on who you are and if you can handle as well as function throughout the day.
Here are some things that those who do consider themselves to be a night owl would definitely agree with.
1. Falling asleep is hard
You don't know why you can't sleep, you try all night most likely not being successful. You might not know why you can't sleep, you just know you can't and you begin to get frustrated at first. I know that for me I don't mean to stay up, it just happens.
2. Waking up might be difficult
Sometimes waking up in the morning can become difficult. When it comes to school days I am able to wake up no problem (with the help of an alarm clock of course) but other than that forget it. I sleep in most of day (no, before you ask I don't mean to) even when I try and plan waking up early even with an alarm it never works in my favor.
3. You watch TV or YouTube
You end up watching TV, YouTube or going to Netflix in the hopes of falling asleep. With YouTube you just watch random videos, ranging from music videos, movie/TV show scenes, dancing videos, all the way to crafting videos. With Netflix you may start a show and binge watch the entire series, sometimes without realizing you're doing it.
4. Overthinking or over analyzing is your friend
By being awake you have time to think over your life. You begin to think of how it's been going for you so far and how it could be changed in ways. You start to think about your relationships with everyone in your life; family, friends, boyfriend or girlfriend.
5. You would take a drive
Most people like to take a drive to clear their head. They would either go to a friend's house or go to their favorite spot to think, which would be a secret spot that only they would know about. Personally, I haven't done this I wish I had a secret spot where I could go to clear my head sometimes.
6. You write, draw, or color
In my eyes this is the perfect time to write, it's the perfect time to get your thoughts out on paper that may be in your head all day. You could write about anything in a journal that you could keep by your bedside at night for easy access. For some, they may feel it's the perfect time for drawing or for me it is the perfect time to color something.
7. Playing video games
This is not something I do, but my boyfriend does. He is always playing on his Switch. He's either playing with his friends or most of the time he's playing by himself. He would play all night, which he has done a few times.
8. Going through your social media
Some people would go through their social media; Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter or Instagram. They might do this so that they feel they are caught up with whatever. Personally, I mostly check my Facebook or Instagram and it's when my boyfriend is on his Switch, and I'm not on it all night.
9. Food becomes your friend
While you're up most of the night you start to feel hungry. A lot of the time you would either make yourself something that you find in your cupboards or you binge eat on junk food. Other times people would go out somewhere that is open 24/7 and depending on where they live, it's mostly just McDonald's or Taco Bell.
10. Cleaning might occur
Sometimes if someone is really bored and has no way of falling asleep they might begin to clean. They might clean their house; bedroom, kitchen, living room, or anything they feel like needs cleaning and feel like they can't get to it at any other point. Some might even do the laundry. Some might reorganize their room.
11. Reading may occur
Some might feel like reading. They might read a book they've been wanting to read for awhile.
12. Seeing the sunrise
Being up late may mean the possibility of seeing the sunrise or at least the light coming in through your window. It all depends on who you are and where you are when the first of daylight happens.
