Downtown Phoenix is the valley's hub for all things food, entertainment and beyond. Here are a few of my favorite picks for the next time you're kicking off your weekend in Phoenix.

Check out The Grand!

The Grand has been one of my second homes this semester for its round-the-clock coffee and laid-back, rustic ambiance. Designed to resemble a train station from times of past, the Grand's interior echos Victorian architecture. This creative concept provides the perfect atmosphere to wind down and reminisce of slower times. The Grand's menu is not limited to solely coffee beverages. In fact, this cafe serves up tasty entrees to order as well as a wide variety of cocktails. Open 24 hours and just a block away from the ASU downtown Phoenix campus, this cafe is the perfect study spot or gathering place for your whole weekend crew!

Go plant shopping at Pueblo.

Just outside the hustle and bustle of the city and tucked away in Phoenix's Historic Garfield Neighborhood lies this green sanctuary with all the kinds of plants you could imagine. Specializing in exotic and indoor plants, Pueblo plant shop is home to hundreds of new additions for your own home decor or for any plant-lover in your life. This shop is one of my favorite places to escape the hectic city life and take in the relaxing environment. Whether you're a diligent plant shopper or you just want to slow down and chill alongside their koi fish pond, Pueblo plant shop is definitely a spot to add to your weekend-outing list.

Go local at the farmers market.

Every Saturday, the parking lot of Phoenix Public Market Cafe transforms into a lively farmers market with artists, food trucks and vendors from all over the valley. From 8 am to 1 pm, visitors can enjoy a variety of food, art and products all while supporting local businesses. The Phoenix Open Air Market is a great way to get in touch with the community and kick off the weekend.

Explore Roosevelt Row.

Roosevelt Row runs right through Phoenix's well-known art district. The arts scene comes alive along this iconic street and there's never a shortage of things to see and do here. This strip is home to lots of restaurants serving up the latest food trends and art galleries for visitors to enjoy the talent that the Phoenix community has to offer. Roosevelt Row is a fun and lively place to get your weekend started on the right foot.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.
