Here we were thinking that it is 2016, but it seems more like a throwback. Everyone is playing Pokemon again as if it never went out of style. Blink 182 has a number one song titled "Bored to Death" and a Clinton is running for president (even if it is just Hillary Clinton.) Tarzan is playing in theaters again. Is the past coming back? Is Pokemon Go the tip of the iceberg?
That's what it seemed like until a resent article came out stating what Nintendo was doing.
In an article titled "Miss old-school 'Super Mario' and 'Donkey Kong'? The classic Nintendo system is coming back" by the Los Angeles Times stated "Nintendo is leaping into the nostalgia market by bringing back the classic Nintendo Entertainmet System."
So maybe we are back in the 1980's?
While the article stated that this NES will look almost exact, it will be smaller than original. It also stated that it will "… [come] complete with 30 built-in games, including all three 'Super Mario Bros.,' 'Donkey Kong,' 'The Legend of Zelda,' and 'Punch-Out'" according to the associated press. The article also stated that this version will retail at $59.99 even though the The Deluxe Set retailed at $199.99 in the 1980's.
While $200 dollars doesn't seem bad now for a new game counsel, back then it was. Times have changed. That $199.99 in the 1980's is now equivalent to $475 in 2016.
So what exactly does all of this information mean? Well, unfortunately, it's not the 1980's or even 2001. It is 2016 and we live in an era of technology. All we know about the NES is that it'll come will 30 installed games and what it will be retailed at, but we can guess and make assumptions.
Since we live in the world of smart phones and reintovating, we can probably guess that NES might be more durable. Also since it will come with 30 games built-in, we won't have to blow on the game cartridge if it gets dusty or if it stop working. That's one thing from the past I won't miss.
Let's now talk about graphics. Over the years, graphics Have definitely advanced for not only video games, but also movies. We've come a long way from the 1980's. Now we have no idea what the graphic for the Nintendo Entertainment System will look like. People who love and care about graphics will probably hope that they don't take it back to the 1980's graphic because that will mean we have went back about 36 years. Video game overs on the other hand, might not care because no matter what it's something they love.
In my opinion (even though I don't play video games) I hope they keep the 1980's graphic. The truth is they are bringing back the NES for that nostalgic feeling. One thing we know for sure though is there will be a long line of people trying to get the NES when it comes out. So tell me, will you get yours?
