As I'm sitting here in my bedroom, 11:23 on a Saturday night, I'm thinking of the right words on how to begin this article. If I say the wrong thing, I will have a crowd of people attacking me because I offended them. But honestly, offense is necessary sometimes. So I'll just cut to the chase: this world needs Jesus.
This world is broken. Daily, we hear stories on the news about terrorism, shootings and killings, arrests, laws broken, etcetera. There's violence everywhere we look. When something bad happens, we turn to negativity. We may be broken, but in Jesus we are united.
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land" - 2 Chronicles 7:14
I don't think we realize how desperately we are in need of that. East coast to west coast, northern to southern hemisphere, up in the sky to the bottom of the ocean, we are the Lord's people. We are called to seek and praise Him in times of trouble and in times of joy. No matter who is president, Jesus is king. In Him, we can find rest. He is in control.
Seasons change but God does not. Sometimes we are too afraid, or too reliable on ourselves to ask for help. But there is joy in surrender.
We just need to call His name.
