My 'Education' At UA

School related? Probably not.

There are a few things that being a student here at The Capstone has taught me. Only a few of them are actually school-related though, but they are still just as important.

1. Always tack on 10 extra minutes when going anywhere that requires you to drive on University Blvd.

2. Always add 30 minutes to your drive time if you ever have to drive on McFarland.

3. Never be afraid to ask your professor for a nice bump in your grade, the worst they can say is no.

4. Don't ever doubt how many calories one can eat during a time period.

5. The Strip is a terrible place to go when in a hurry.

6. Never eat at Buffalo Phill's if you need to eat within an hour... because you will never find a seat.

7. You could run out of dining dollars by October, do not ever doubt yourself.

8. Starbuck's drive thru is possibly the very definition of the best and worst thing that ever happened to you.

9. Calling mom just to ask for money happens more than not.

10. The crosswalk in front of tut will always get on your nerves.

11. Putting your home address in the GPS just to see if Cottondale is a quicker route because of construction.

12. Thinking that your kids will go to school here and the construction will still be going on.

13. Nick Saban is better known than the President of the University.

14. Seeing Jalen Hurts on campus and having to act completely normal will never get any easier.

15. Waiting on the bus just so you don't have to walk across campus is completely insane, yet here you are, waiting on a Crimson Express.

16. Saying "roll tide" at any given time, during any situation, makes perfect sense. It also fits every life situation.

17. Sorority girls aren't actually bad :-)

18. No one goes to class in the rain.

19. Tuscaloosa is a town where NO one leaves.

20. Never drive home the day class ends, you won't ever get off McFarland.

21. Everyone is from a different state, like, no one is from Alabama.

22. You never knew you could love a city so much until you packed up and moved to Title Town, USA.

23. While your home will always be called home, a little piece of you calls Tuscaloosa home, too.

24. Happiness truly is wrapped in a big bow and called Bryant-Denny Stadium.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
