Oh, the holidays, what a stressful time of year.
Not only is it stressful but it also can be emotionally tough. My sister's class had a gingerbread house making day with parents for Christmas where all the parents would come in for a few hours to decorate gingerbread houses with their kids. Out of a full class of 20 or so children, only about three or four parents showed up, including mine. Children look forward to this time of year to make cookies and spend time with their family, and it's sad to me to see Christmas celebrated more with buying then celebrated with actual giving.
Giving your time, your love and making memories. I had a child tell me he asked for an iPhone 6 for Christmas...What does a six year old need an iPhone 6 for??
It's crazy to me that instead of spending time with the people we love we are more worried about what to buy for everyone. Christmas is not about the presents or the money, it's about family and people we care about.
This year, I challenge everyone to do a little less shopping and take some time to appreciate the people around you, because you never know what will happen tomorrow.
