It’s the middle of the semester and things are about to pick up. Midterms, projects, papers, presentations you name it. But at the end of the day it’s important to take a step back and relax for a little. Even if you’re just sitting in your pajamas on a Friday night and watching a little bit of Netflix -- or a lot. So, here are some wonderful shows and movies that will get your mind off your schoolwork or at least give you a much needed break.
1. "Love"
If you’re looking for a cute, slightly romantic, slightly awkward comedy for a good afternoon of procrastination then this is the show for you! It's a quirky, witty show that will leave you wanting a hand to hold, or maybe just a bag of chips as you click next episode.
2. "Documentary Now"
Think Monty Python meets Portlandia -- but in a good way. If you love watching documentaries but are also feeling the need to laugh, take a chance on "Documentary Now."
3. "Man Up"
This independent, British comedy will have you laughing before you know it. "Man Up" follows an accidental blind date around London, but will they be right for each other? Find out now!
4. "Housebound"
Sometimes you just need to sit down, in the dark and watch a horror movie. But what if you don’t want the nightmares that accompany horror movie night? Watch "Housebound." This critically acclaimed film has just the right balance of scary and comedy to leave you oddly satisfied.
5. "Arrested Development"
It’s comedic, it’s awkward, and each episode is just short enough to watch on your study break.
6. "Madam Secretary"
This is an award winning political drama that will leave you wanting more. Especially if you're into international relations and feminism. But really it’s a great show. Watch it.
7. "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World"
I generally have a problem with Steve Carrell, and I never would have imagined him in a movie with Kiera Knightly, but somehow they have amazing chemistry. The movie is quirky, funny and has just enough apocalyptic angst to be the perfect movie.
8. "Amelie"
Do you speak French? Do you want to speak French? Do you enjoy French culture? Do you want to enjoy French culture? Do you understand French humor? Do you not understand French humor? If you answered yes to any of the above questions you would enjoy "Amelie."
9. "The Bates Motel"
If you’re feeling like watching something very well made, yet oddly disturbing this is the show for you! "The Bates Motel" is a spin off of the original horror movie classic, "Psycho."
10. "Grace and Frankie"
Inappropriate, but oddly comforting, "Grace and Frankie" takes a look at relationships and what it’s like to be getting older.
11. "Broadchurch"
It has David Tennant. That’s really all I should have to say, but "Broadchurch" is a thrilling, chilling crime drama that may leave you lying awake at night.
