Every school year seems to reflect the beginning of every new year: a new task or routine or set of goals you're going to complete and improve on, a "school year resolution," if you will.
But, most of these habits are lost in translation once the second week of school rolls around.
Here are some things you should NOT do this school year.
1. Procrastinate
Procrastination is one of the most common practices of students, and even adults who've graduated and/or working. I know this is easier said than done, but please don't procrastinate. With the limited time you've given yourself, you're now providing limited work. Think about the grade you could've received rather than what you gave.
2. Study last minute
Studying at the last minute makes your brain scatter more and mix up information. Try studying each subject for ten minutes each night, even if it is simply reviewing what you did in the class earlier that day. Remember, while you study take frequent breaks between each lesson/subject so your brain can properly absorb the information.
3. Arrive late to class
No matter what school you're in, high school, middle school, college, there are always consequences. Obviously, in high school and middle school you receive a tardy and the more you get the more detention you'll serve, but being in college you could miss out on essential information. Many professors start their class right on the dot, so be in your spot!
4. Only participate in class
Only being at school for class only is a drag, joining a club can boost your love for school. It'll give you something to look forward to every day! I know it's not required, but it could make your resume look better depending on the organization.
5. Start drama
Okay, I'll be the first one to admit that drama is juicy and who doesn't love hearing about it? My only advice is to keep your mouth shut, starting drama can result in people avoiding you more unless you want to be the "mean girl" of the school.
6. Bully
This one should be the most obvious one, but yet many are oblivious that they still do it. Making fun of someone's race, opinion, appearance, sexual orientation, family, etc. is bullying. The point I'm trying to make here is to just get along with everyone, you don't have to be friends, but keep your negativity to yourself.
