My mother was a stay at home mom so growing up I got to spend a lot of time with her. From the good days to the bad, my mom was always there. She was there for all of my successes and my downfalls. She helped me with my skinned knees, my bruised ego, and everything in between. She has always wanted the best for me and been willing to do what it took to help me be great. My mom brags about my accomplishments like it's her job. Here I am almost 21 years later, a young lady who is on the path to great things. I owe my mom a huge thank you for helping me out throughout my life. After all, over these 21 years of my existence I have learned a thing or two from her. From my looks to parts of my personality my mom has made a big impact in my life. So this one is for my mom and all the things I've gotten from her.

1. My good looks.

It had to come from somewhere; and that somewhere is definitely those Italian genes on my mom's side(;

2. My cooking skills.

Pasta and fried chicken, cakes and brownies; I have a wide variety of skills. Know how? Countless times in the kitchen watching, learning, eventually making food with my mom.

3. My protective instincts.

Just like my mom, when it comes to the people I love I will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. Try messing with the people I care about and you'll have me to deal with.

4. My outgoing side.

Standing in the middle of a store surrounded by strangers and here's my mom talking to some lady about who-knows-what. I used to think it was so weird, but now I am thankful for those experiences. It taught me how to talk to people and make friends in any sort of situation.

5. My wonderful family.

I wouldn't have my dad, my four sisters, my countless cousins, or my wonderful nieces and nephews without my mom. I don't know what I would do without my amazing family, so thank you Mom for bringing me into the world with an amazing support system.

Mom, I just wanted to thank you for all of the wonderful things you've done for me over the years. I'm proud to have parts of my character shaped by your influences. Obviously I have gained more things from having you as a mom, but these are my favorites. I hope you've enjoyed the past 21 years as much as I have. Love you, Mom.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
