Grades are a huge aspect of school, and in college, test grades are few and far between. You can score badly and fail one of just four tests in a class, and then suddenly you are concerned about how this will impact your future in the class.
Things may go through your head such as "How can I stay in this major when I am struggling in one of the more basic classes for it...Maybe I'm not cut out for x major, what should I switch to?" Getting help in what you are struggling with is important and needs to be done; however, you should never fail to remember there are other things in life that are important as well.
Friendship is important. This is especially true here at college where you are in a new environment. It is important to have people you can turn to on the bad days or simply have fun and talk to on the good days. Newfound and lifelong friendships are part of what makes college so great, and thus prove they should be valued highly just as grades are.
Family is important. Your family supports you through thick and thin despite the change in proximity from them now that you are in college. Without my family, I know I would not have the strength to keep going, even when I didn't want to.
Feeling content in your current situation is important. This is a big one because when you do not get the grade you were hoping for or your life is not following what you had planned, you need to be able to identify what you are currently satisfied with and be able to say even though everything is not working out, there are indeed aspects of your life you are happy with. What you are happy about makes the downfalls seem to decrease in power.
Finally, knowing you are more than a bad test grade is important. Your value as a person is beyond what you make on a test during one given class period on any particular day.
