11 People Who Tell You What It's Really Like Living In A Fraternity House

Ever wonder what happens in a Fraternity House? I asked eleven different boys from a variety of fraternities, "What's it really like living it a Fraternity House?"

1. “It’s got pros and cons. If you wanna hang out with your friends, that’s always an option. If you wanna drink with your friends, that’s always an option. If you wanna study in a quite place, it has to be during the day while people are at class not late at night. If you don’t want to drink on a Friday night and sleep, you’re getting woken up at 3 am by drunk idiots. Overall it’s a great experience and I’m very happy I did it.” –Ryan Depol, Pi Kappa Phi

2. “I enjoy it. A lot. Every day is a new adventure, there’s always something going on. People are always down to do something.” –Mason Havens, Sigma Chi

3. “It’s really fun; I love it, but I would never do it again.” –Quint Hunnicutt, Kappa Sigma

4. “It's the craziest year of your life. Always something going on from someone coming back from the bars and turning the speakers all the way up at 4 am to someone knocking on your door at 8am to ask/look for your rain coat. The best thing is catching the girls leaving rooms real early in the morning while they try and sneak out. And the party always being at 'your house.'" –Justin Gordon, Kappa Alpha Order

5. “Living at Sigma Chi is the one of the best decisions of my college career. There’s never a dull moment living with 8 other guys, and the gameday experience is unlike any other.” –Ian Bryan, Sigma Chi

6. “Loud, dirty, no privacy, but the best year of my life.” –Dalton Trogstad, Delta Tau Delta

7. It’s an experience that you can’t really compare to anything else. You’re around your best friends, never really bored, helps the bond between brothers grow even more, you learn to live with people that in an un-ideal situation, you have constant support with whatever. There’s not much privacy. You always have that one moron that is filthy, or not quiet when you need him to be. Overall it’s an amazing experience.” –Drew Scruggs, Pi Kappa Phi

8. "I would say it's one of the best decisions I made because it got me closer with everyone that lived there and it's always a good time." Tyler Winslow, Sigma Nu

9. "There's always something to do. Sometimes that's a good thing, but sometimes it's not. Even in a small house (we only have 9). There is always one or two people that want to go out on a Wednesday so it's very hard to time manage. Not having to find a ride to all the parties is nice, but waking up with a tornado of a living room is inconvenient. Luckily, there's always people to help people clean up. Also, if you're ever bored at 1 in the morning just mention the words late night in a GroupMe and you will have plenty of entertainment to pass the time." -Tom Keene, Kappa Alpha Order

10. “Convenient, fun, and nice being able to be around 12 + of my brothers every day and being able to hang out with them whenever.” –Kyle Whitlock, Delta Tau Delta

11)“It’s really interesting. There’s always something to do or someone to hang out with and even when you want to relax, someone is trying to party. You have to stay focused to keep from falling behind in school, but the experiences you have and the bonds you make spending so much time with your roommates and brothers is unbeatable.” –Jak Kicklighter, Kappa Sigma

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
