It's that time of year again when people get into a heated argument over whether it's too early for Christmas music or not. I say it's not too early. Everyone puts so much time and effort into the holiday season that it would almost be a waste if we didn't start celebrating a whole month early.
There are countless ways to show your holiday spirit. Nobody likes Scrooge so don't be a Scrooge. It's one month out of the entire year that you have to be jolly. For the other 11, you can be whatever type of anti-holiday person you want to be.
Elf said it best, "the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!" I have never had a group of Christmas carolers knock on my door and I really wish I could experience that at least once in my life. But even if I don't experience Christmas carolers, I have the radio.
Everyone should embrace the Christmas music that is played leading up to Christmas. That's how you know Christmas is important; It literally has its own genre of music.
Might as well go ahead and break out those Christmas classics while you're at it. Whether it's Home Alone, A Christmas Story, The Polar Express or The Santa Clause, there's nothing better than snuggling up on the couch by the toasty fireplace when it's freezing outside. This is how traditions are started.
Decorating is another necessity when it comes to the holiday season. This doesn't just include Christmas. It stands for every holiday. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Easter, Valentine's Day, all of them.
Christmas is the last holiday of the season so this is the perfect time to go all out. If you don't have, "250 strands of lights, 100 individual bulbs per strand for a grand total of 25,000 imported Italian twinkle lights," then you're simply just not going all out.
Now that the decorations are up, it's time to throw a party. Might as well celebrate the true meaning of Christmas with friends and family. Whip out the eggnog with some rum and cinnamon, throw a log in the fireplace and honor the birth of Christ with the people you care about the most. After all, the holiday spirit is all about enjoying the few days you spent all month planning for.
