What It Is Like To Be 19 When Mardi Gras Comes To Town

When you are 19 years old you can not get into Mardi Gras ball. I will tell you what you can do, you can get into a hot dress. Every night this week they are having Mardi Gras balls in Mobile, Ala., which is about 50 miles from where I live. These balls are huge, flashy and fun, the only thing is I can not get in. When you are 19-years-old you fall in that awkward age range. You're over 18 but you aren't 21 yet. And if you're like me, a lot of your friends are older than you (and also over 21). When you have friends that are older than you, most of the time you are the only one who gets left out. Well not this time, not if I could help it.

I have been sitting at home all week scrolling through my social media looking at everyone having a great time at the ball. I do not know if you caught the part where I said I was sitting at home… SITTING AT HOME. Anyways, back to the story. When Thursday came around I decided I was not sitting at home any longer so I called up a friend of mine (who is the same age.. young) and I asked her if she wanted to go downtown Mobile. Of course, her being young like me she was ready to go! I had come up with a good plan.

If I could not go to the ball I could, at least, get dressed, do my hair, makeup, and I could pretend I went to the ball. Okay, now you think I am crazy. Okay! Okay! Maybe I am just a little crazy. Aren't all girls a little crazy? So eight pm rolls around and I have covered my eyes in sparkles, I have curled my hair and put my dress on. I drive to Mobile, Al and I pick my friend up from her house and we head downtown. I felt like a princess all night. Even though we did not go to the Mardi Gras ball we both still felt amazing about ourselves. Moral of the story is being 19 during Mardi Gras is no fun unless you are a little crazy and have a good imagination.

Oh and Hey! Happy Pardi Gras everyone!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
